Newcomers and Friends Board Meeting
December 7, 2011
Meeting called to order by Carol at the home of Jodie Baker at 1:25 PM. Donna Jones, Vice President, will do the talking to save Carol's voice.
Minutes of Nov 2, 2011 read by Muriel Usselman, secretary and approved as read.
Reports
Luncheon- Donna reported, the January luncheon will be at the Tournament Players Club and will be a buffet. February will be held at Le Chen and March, April and May will be at The Valencia Country Club. The VCC will be raising the fee to $21 starting in March. They also wanted to add another dollar for colored napkins. Donna informed them we would be very happy with white napkins.
Membership - Nancy reported we now have 167 members.
Treasurer - Kay Moioffer, treasurer, was unable to stay but left the report of the balance after a deposit was made for 77 members checks for the holiday luncheon , Thursday, at the Odyssey.
Web Mistress – Joan Hoffman will be sending the web news this month. All wishing to contribute this month need to get the information to Joan ASAP.
Coffee – Carolyn reported the next meeting will be January 19th. There are approximately 15 attending and they usually have breakfast. She reminded us the location changes and those interested must call her for location.
Luncheon Programs - Karen reported for our up and coming March Luncheon and Event, we need to get the word out to stimulate interest and hopefully attract a large audience for our guest singer. In April, we will have the "Singing Sisters' again
Historian-
Hostesses - Nalini reported one of the hostesses has gone missing and she has been unable to reach her, so they are working short-handed. She has enough help for this Thursday's luncheon.
Parliamentarian - Millie reported we will have entertainment for our luncheon Thursday. She also reminded Carol, in January, it will be time for her to begin to gather names of members who wish to or are interested in serving on the board for the next year. Carol requested the present board members return their job description page from their folder to help simplify and ease the cost of making new folders for the next board, if possible. Also those wishing to remain in their current position please let her know.
Vagabonds - The February trip to the horse races at Santa Anita is a go. The committee is requesting all those who plan to go please get their money to Gia. If there are more who wish to go, the committee will need that information to see if they need to order another bus. They need to make the plans well in advance. Also all those planning to attend need to fill out the emergency information form.
